What is a Stationary Dock?
Stationary docks, also known as fixed docks or permanent docks, are anchored to the bottom of the body of water. Designed to withstand harsh weather conditions, these sturdy docks are made from durable materials and equipped for long-term use at a lake or riverfront property.
Building a Stationary Dock
Tommy Docks offers three primary types of decking options for stationary dock packages: cedar, composite, and aluminum.
Cedar Decking
Made with premium, corrosion-resistant cedar, this unsealed and unstained decking material is fully customizable, offering a personalized experience with a classic waterfront look. This can be paired with cedar or aluminum dock frames.
Composite Decking
Made with composite wood to offer the appearance of traditional wood with enhanced resistance to rot, splinters, sagging, and more. This low-maintenance decking option is available in warm brown, sleek gray, or modern terrazzo.
Aluminum Decking
Built with high-quality materials, this stationary aluminum dock offers a long-lasting surface and structure complete with weather resistance, UV protection, reduced maintenance, and more. This durable package can be used with aluminum or gray Titan decking.
All of these dock configurations come in many different sizes, including 8’, 12’, 16’, 20’, and 24’ docks.

Stationary Docks
Stationary docks, also called fixed docks or permanent docks, are structures anchored to the lake or river bottom with supports, providing stable access in calm waters. These durable docks are built to withstand harsh weather and are ideal for shallow, stable waters with consistent water levels. However, their installation is more complex, sometimes requiring professional assistance, and they may need occasional maintenance to ensure the pilings remain secure.
Floating Docks
Floating docks rest on the water's surface and adapt to changing water levels, making them suitable for areas with deeper water or fluctuating tides. They are easier to install and can be reconfigured or moved as needed. While generally low-maintenance, floating docks require regular checks to ensure they are in good condition and that their anchors remain secure.
