Keep Your Boat and Dock Damage-Free

Every time a boat drifts into the dock, wind, wake, and shifting water levels push it back again. Over a season, that contact leaves dents and scratches on your boat and your dock, and that kind of damage can turn into costly repairs down the line. A dock bumper sits between the two and takes the hit, giving you simple dock protection that keeps both in good shape.

This collection of boat dock bumpers and caps mounts to your Tommy Docks setup in minutes. Sometimes called dock fenders or boat fenders, these boat bumpers line the dock edge and wrap your posts so your boat has a soft place to land. Pick the style that fits your dock, choose your colors, and get back on the water.

Bumpers and Caps in This Collection

Dock bumpers (pipe, straight, and heavy duty):

Pipe bumpers wrap around posts and corners while straight bumpers mount vertically along a flat dock edge, both available in a variety of colors at 18" in multipack options. For a busy slip or marina, the 72" heavy-duty piling bumper covers more length and surface area.

PVC vinyl pipe caps:

Caps cover the open tops of your dock pipes so no one gets injured on a sharp edge. They work as a safety edge guard for any exposed post, in normal duty or heavy duty, in blue, green, and white.

Match the Bumper to Your Dock

Start with where the contact happens. If your boat rests against a corner or post, pipe-style corner bumpers and post bumpers are the better fit. If it sits along a straight section, a vertical dock bumper guards that dock edge. Most docks use a mix of both for reliable protection at every point a boat can reach. Paired with pipe caps, they form simple protection systems that guard the whole dock against potential damage.

From there, think about your boat and how often you use it. A small boat on a private dock might need two or three bumpers, while a larger boat at a busy boat slip will want a 4-pack or the heavy-duty piling bumper for maximum protection. These bumpers protect a wooden dock system, aluminum frame, or composite deck the same way, and they pack down for compact storage at the end of the season. Not sure how many you need? Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Dock bumpers, dock fenders, and boat fenders all describe the same thing: a cushion mounted to the dock that softens the contact between your boat and the dock. They keep dents and scratches off your hull and your decking.

Pipe bumpers wrap around posts and corners. A straight, vertical dock bumper runs along the flat dock edge. Look at where your boat actually touches the dock and match the shape to that spot. Many docks, from a quiet private dock to a busy marina, use both.

Count the points where your boat contacts the dock and add a little margin. A smaller boat often needs two to three, while a larger boat or a full boat slip does better with a 4-pack or the heavy-duty piling bumper. You can always add more later.

Caps cover the open ends of your dock pipes. They give you a smooth, safer surface so no one catches a foot or hand on a sharp post, and they work as an edge guard that keeps water and debris out of the pipe.

Yes. The bumpers and PVC vinyl caps are made for constant sun, water, and weather, so they keep their shape and grip season after season. Rinse them off now and then to clear away grime, and check the mounting hardware at the start of each season. Many owners leave them on year-round, though you can pull them before a hard freeze if you take your dock out for winter.
