Frequently Asked Questions
As the Tommy Docks system is essentially a free standing structure, ice build up around the dock can damage the dock. This is especially true if the ice rises into the dock from underneath or if windy conditions in the Spring time of the year cause the ice to move around. Therefore, the rule of thumb is if there is ice on the water body, the dock should be removed. Not doing so voids any warranties.

Yes, you can source your own decking panels with boards 3/4"-1" thick. If you prefer to slide your decking panels into the frame, you would need the panel length to be 47 3/4". To create your own drop-ins, you can purchase a drop in hardware kit without decking from us and then use your own decking boards measuring 46 3/4" long. Our panels measure 5 1/2" wide each that we use with this system, totaling 8 boards per 4x4 drop-in or 16 boards total per 4x8 section.
