What is a FLEXX?

Tommy Docks is excited to introduce FLEXX as our newest solution for tricky lake bottoms, rising water levels, and much more. The FLEXX Modular Dock is made up of weather-resistant polyethylene floating platforms that can be used for everything from swimming platforms to boat dock systems. This versatile, heavy-duty dock offers a stable, slip-resistant platform for a wide range of waterfront activities. Whether you're looking to enhance your boating experience, create a perfect swimming spot, or enjoy some peaceful fishing, our specially engineered Flexx products are designed to meet your needs, whatever they may be.

How to Build a FLEXX Floating Dock

The most important step when building a floating dock is determining your needs. You might need a different dock solution depending on whether the body of water near your waterfront is a lake, pond, or river and conditions.

This will affect a variety of factors, including weight capacity, the depth of the water where you’d be installing the dock, and accessories (ramps, ladders, etc.) that you’ll need.

Tommy Docks offers FLEXX Floating Docks in a range of different sizes and materials that are designed to be set up with just two people. Once you’ve decided which dock option is best for you, our DIY dock kits make the assembly process simple. For more details, review our nine-step FLEXX Floating Dock Assembly Guide.

This is the second purchase. Extremely happy with it. Our dock is secured and ready for next summer!

Good value for money.

Easy to install even for a relatively deep body of water. Will buy a second dock for our pond to cover the pond riser.

Frequently Asked Questions

Floating docks, like Tommy Dock's Flexx Floating Dock, are buoyant platforms that rest on the water’s surface, naturally adjusting to changing water levels. Typically secured with anchors and connected to the shore via a gangway, these versatile structures provide a stable and adaptable docking solution.

Most of our DIY Floating Dock kits come with two main parts: FLEXX Floats and FLEXX Connector Kits (Top and Bottom).

Some kits come with Floating Dock Pipe Guide Kits as well, but anchoring is not included in many of our kits. However, we offer anchoring products specifically designed for use with our FLEXX Floating Docks in our Accessories.

Stationary Docks

Stationary docks, or fixed docks are fixed structures anchored to the lake or river bottom with supports, providing stable, consistent access in calm waters. These durable docks are built to withstand heavy loads and harsh weather and are ideal for shallow or stable water conditions. However, their installation is more complex, sometimes requiring professional assistance, and they may need occasional maintenance to ensure the pilings remain secure.

Floating Docks

Floating docks rest on the water's surface and adapt to changing water levels, making them suitable for areas with fluctuating depths or tides. They are easier to install and can be reconfigured or moved as needed. While generally low-maintenance, floating docks require regular checks to ensure anchoring security and good condition.
